People get their wisdom teeth in their late teens or early twenties. They are the third and final sets of molars in the very back of your mouth. Removing wisdom tooth has turned out to be a standard practice these days. But is it required to eliminate them? Dentist in MG Road says that it is not always necessary to get your wisdom tooth removed, but there are various conditions which makes the removal necessary.
Given below are the conditions which might help you in deciding whether the removal of wisdom teeth is required for you or not.
Wisdom tooth removal is necessary when they lead to-

1. Damage to neighboring teeth

-Bite problems and mouth pain and can be caused by these extra set of molars as they push the other teeth around.
-These partially erupted molar teeth can also create deep pockets around themselves where food, bacterial plaque and calculus can collect which leads to cavities and infections on the roots of tooth. In case the neighboring teeth also get affected by the cavities, it is very likely that extraction of neighboring teeth is required along with the wisdom teeth.
-Sometimes the teeth won’t completely come out because either they are stirring in adjacent tooth root’s direction or will come in contact with the opposing tooth. In both the conditions it can either perpetually harm the nearby tooth and will end up requiring either tooth extraction or surgical treatment on the pretentious roots or is of no use and the danger of keeping it over powers the benefits.

2. Jaw Damage

These wisdom teeth possibly will lead to tumors, cysts or infections in the jawbone. If they are not treated they can hollow out your jaw and damage nerves. The position of the wisdom tooth sometimes hinders affects chewing function or jaw movement also.

3. Gum Problems

Such teeth can cause swelling and pain in the gums. They may lead to infections, tumors or cysts in the gum tissues.

4. Sinus problem

Apart from other problems, wisdom teeth can worsen sinus pain, heaviness and mobbing too.

Wisdom tooth removal is not necessary when they are-

1. Functioning properly
2. Are easily cleaned daily
3. Correctly positioned with the adjacent and opposing teeth.
4. Grown in completely (Fully vented)
5. Perfectly healthy

Before wisdom tooth surgery Pune, dentist or an oral surgeon, after seeing the position and health of the wisdom teeth decide about what’s best for your situation. Some dentist and oral surgeons might also take out healthy molars to prevent problems at a later age. With you getting older the bones in your mouth also gets stiffer which ultimately makes the process of removing the teeth even tougher. If you are still not prepared to get your molars removed, take advice from your dentist as to what suite you the best. You might get to wait a few months to check if anything change prior to making any conclusion. But in case of any bad odor, swelling or pain, a second look might be required.
